Hello and welcome!

I’m Laura, I offer antenatal courses for you and your partner to help you feel more confident and prepared for birth and the first weeks as new parents as well as postnatal doula support once baby has arrived, looking after you while you look after baby. I am passionate about supporting parents and families during this time - I have been through it and know what a huge transition it can be.

My antenatal classes are evidence-based and full of information about birth and babies as well as practical techniques you can use. Learn about all the tools you have to help you give birth, whatever course your labour takes. Learn breathing techniques for labour and birth, massage techniques your birth partner can use, ways to move to work with gravity and help baby’s descent. Learn about those first weeks with baby - sometimes referred to as the ‘fourth trimester’ - all of the physical and emotional changes and how to ease the transition for you and baby as well as the practical side of looking after a newborn - feeding, nappies, washing and dressing, carrying baby.

Often we spend more time preparing for birth and give little thought to what the first days and weeks with baby might be like. Book in for a postnatal plannning session and we can plan this time together or hire me as your postnatal doula and I will be there for you in your home in the weeks after birth, offering practical and emotional support, sharing information, providing an extra pair of hands and someone to listen. The Accidental Midwife

As I cycled through Charlton I checked my watch. I’d left work later than planned and the journey home had been slow due to the wind. It was well past six which meant Laura will have had to do bath time alone - normally not an issue but as she was now 39 weeks pregnant, the physical aspects made it a lot harder, not to mention the fact that she’d be tired by the combination of pregnancy and looking after an excitable 18 month old.

A friend came round with her two young children - she was a year ahead of me with her boys and I had been watching what life was like with two with a similar age gap, I did feel a little nervous!
